On World No Tobacco Day (31st May) we were delighted to attend and present at the DVD launch of ‘Today I Can’ – a smokefree mental health resource we co-created with service users for service users.

The DVD was produced in collaboration with charity Heart of Mersey, CMTA and the CHAMPs Public Health Network.

It tells the stories of service users who have quit or reduced smoking and offers tips and advice to help inspire others to do the same. Service users were involved at each stage in the development to ensure our final edit was right for our target audience.

diva senior account manager Amy Richards delivered a presentation on ‘The Making of the DVD’, she said: “We are so pleased with how well the DVD has been received, it has been a pleasure to be involved in such an innovative resource which will hopefully help shape the future smoking policy agenda in mental health.”

Over fifty healthcare professionals and service users attended the launch at the Bluecoat in Liverpool. Participants were awarded a framed photograph of themselves by way of thanks for their time and contribution.

Chris, a service user starring in Today I Can, said: “Taking part in this DVD has made me feel really good about myself. I feel really chuffed about what I have done.”
