DOUBLE AWARD FOR SOUTH YORKSHIRE AIR QUALITY WEBSITE
South Yorkshire air quality awareness campaign, Care4Air, may need a bigger mantlepiece, after their website, www.Care4Air.org, picked up two awards, one for the third consecutive year.
The award-winning Care4Air website, designed and developed by Sheffield marketing and communications agency, diva creative, beat off competition from over 50 other specialist websites to gain double recognition from two separate industry publications; Air Quality Management, and Air Quality Bulletin.
Air Quality Management awarded www.Care4Air.org the accolade of ‘Best Local Authority Consortium Website’, for the third consecutive year, while Air Quality Bulletin awarded the site its first annual ‘Best Non-Local Authority’ title. Air Quality Bulletin also praised the site for providing good quality news and content around air quality issues, giving it five out of five in three of the four judging categories.
The Care4Air website features a host of information on air quality, including the latest air quality news, local and national events, and separate sections for environmental professionals, young people, and the general public. It also contains information on the Care4Air Award winners, and downloadable video clips featuring environmental enthusiast Bill Oddie, television weather personality Paul Hudson, and top tips for reducing car emissions by eco-driving.
Jack Pease, of Air Quality Bulletin, said: "The judges were really impressed by the sheer breadth of the Care4Air website - and its special relevance to local South Yorkshire people, to whom it is aimed. By urging people to share cars, make pledges and generally think hard about how they can improve air quality, the Care4Air website is a fantastic model for other authorities keen to make their websites excellent."
Mark Daly, spokesperson for Care4Air, said: “With diva, we have worked hard this year to add a host of innovative features and content to the site, such as an eco-driving podcast, events listings and a young people’s section, and we are delighted to once again receive recognition from two respected national publications.”
Care4Air is a diva-devised South Yorkshire wide campaign, aimed at raising awareness of air quality issues in the region. The campaign encourages people and businesses to improve air quality by reducing single occupancy car journeys, becoming more energy efficient and reducing emissions through the use of new technology. Care4Air is a partnership between all four local authorities in South Yorkshire, and South Yorkshire Travelwise.
Shirley Harris, diva Director, said: “We are delighted with the continued success of the Care4Air website, which shows that in partnership, Care4Air and diva are very successful.
“By constantly updating and refining the site, it has proved to be an invaluable resource for air quality management across South Yorkshire, and this is reflected in the accolades it has received.”
