My name’s Kasim Usman and I joined Diva as a social media digital marketing apprentice in January.

It’s National Apprenticeship Week, which seemed like the perfect opportunity to share a day in my life as an apprentice at Diva.

That’s a bit tricky, as no two days are ever the same here – it’s really varied!

But I’ll do my best to capture what a typical day could look like and give you a glimpse into my life as an apprentice…

I’ve been tasked with drafting some tweets to send out on Diva’s Twitter profile, so it’s time to sit down with our copywriter, Mike, and get a bit of feedback on how to tighten them up.

There’s also a news story about me that’s going on the company website, so our designer Adam takes some photos of me to go with it.

At least I got to sit down with him afterwards and pick out my favourites!

Meet our lovely office dog, Lulu. She’s full of energy this morning so I’d better keep her entertained for a while.

It’s a hard life!

Lunchtime sometimes means a trip into town for a sandwich, but today there’s a weekly pilates class running in our building, the Workstation.

I’ve never done it before… so it’s time to see what all the fuss is about!

Although I’m working at Diva full time, my apprenticeship also means I’m completing an NVQ in Social Media Digital Marketing from Chesterfield College.

I have regular sessions with my tutor, Sara, and today I’m going through some assignments for my coursework with her over video conferencing software for the first time.

Senior Account Manager Gareth is off to Manchester for a client meeting, so I’m coming with him to gain some experience and get to know the project.

It’s fun to get out of the office, meet people and see what goes on in the working world.

So that’s just an example of what my days look like now I’m an apprentice here at Diva.

I’m really enjoying it and it’s good to see that we’re backing National Apprenticeship Week – I think young people should consider them because they’re a great way to get experience while earning qualifications.

Digital marketing has always appealed to me, so I hope that my apprenticeship will help me break into the industry in the future and mark the start of my career.
