Children in Leicestershire and Rutland have recorded more than 25,000 physical activities in under a fortnight on a new website designed by Diva.

Move It Boom Rio, developed for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, encourages children to be more physically active by doing fun activities with friends and family.

The 2016 Olympics-inspired site features an activity tracker in the form of an interactive adventure game, an ‘Activity Finder’ to help inspire fun and innovative activities, and a map of sports and game facilities available in parks across the region.

It has been visited over 33,000 times in its first two weeks since launch.

Part of the larger Health for Kids resource, which was co-created with young people, Move It Boom Rio includes an animated video and online games all intended to inspire them to become more physically active.

Schools can collectively record their activities in a leaderboard competition, with prizes on offer from Leicester Riders basketball team, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Loughborough Sport, and Premier League Champions Leicester City.

Steven Key, Creative Lead at Diva Creative, said: “It is fantastic to see so many children not only visiting the website but, more importantly, getting out there and taking advantage of the opportunities available to them locally.

“At Diva, we are always to keen to work with young people and develop resources that they want to use.

“Move It Boom Rio is a great example of how by understanding the audience you can create engaging and entertaining content that has a positive impact on users’ behaviour.”

Shinal Pancholi, Communications Project Officer at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, said: “We wanted to deliver positive health messages and get children to be more physically active over their summer holidays. What better to do this than sending children on their very own mission to assemble a winning team of athletes?

“It has been amazing working with Diva on such an innovative, creative project for children across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. I want to thank everyone at Diva who has helped bring our Move it Boom Rio campaign to life.”

Diva has won three awards this year, including Best Small Integrated Agency at the Prolific North Awards, and is currently shortlisted in two categories at the UK Public Sector Communications Awards.
