Diva Works With Healthy Schools To Help Youngsters Lead A Healthier Lifestyle

diva are helping young people lead healthier lifestyles, by developing a series of creative resources for Healthy Schools programmes across the Country.

diva were commissioned to provide effective and interesting resources, and engaging learning tools for teachers to use in lessons, on all aspects of young people’s social, emotional and physical development.

Following the success of these resources, diva have also created feature-packed websites for Kirklees Healthy Schools and Sheffield Healthy Schools programmes, as well as tools to guide schools on the Healthy Schools policy, and to monitor their progress towards achieving Healthy Schools status.

Amongst the resources diva have developed are: an interactive, electronic game to teach young people about the ‘Ups and Downs’ of puberty, body changes, and growing up, developed for Rotherham Healthy Schools, and based on the successful Rollercoaster board game used in many schools; Flower 125 – a teaching toolkit for use in lessons on Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) for Sheffield Healthy Schools; as well as a Healthy Schools’ Cookbook, with recipes and information on healthy eating.

Shirley Harris, director of diva, said: “The Healthy Schools programme is incredibly important for children and young people to learn about growing up, eating healthily, and generally making decisions about their lifestyle, helping them to make healthy choices as they grow up.

“With over a decade of experience in developing engaging, interactive and creative products in all forms of media, it’s been a rewarding opportunity to transfer our expertise to creating a wide range of learning tools and resources to support the Healthy Schools programme in many areas of the country.”
